40+ years of Colorado land — and the disputes that come with it.

Jason Emery has been working Colorado's land for over four decades. He earned his Professional Land Surveyor license in 1983 and has since navigated the full complexity of Colorado's land history — from remnants of the original federal surveys to contemporary subdivision disputes in rapidly growing communities along the Front Range.

In land surveying, the record always tells a story. The job is knowing how to read it — and being able to explain what it means to a judge, a jury, or a neighbor who just wants to know where their fence belongs.

In 1987, Jason founded Boulder Land Consultants, which grew into one of the region's most respected surveying firms under his 34-year leadership as President. He continues to serve BLC as Senior Land Surveyor and Resident Expert on legal matters — a role that keeps him deeply connected to the surveying community and the referral network that comes with it.

Jason served as the elected Boulder County Surveyor for three consecutive four-year terms — a constitutionally mandated office with roots in Colorado's frontier era, when accurately dividing land into homesteads, towns, and mining claims was foundational to the region's development. His public service reflects the same belief that guides his expert work: clear boundaries matter, and so does getting them right.

A longtime member of the Professional Land Surveyors of Colorado, Jason has received multiple awards for service to the organization and continues to offer educational presentations to peers and to the Realtor and title insurance communities across the state.
